We’re All Mad Here

Hmm. So, while playing around with Supernatural and Moonlight Falls, I created a foundress for this ISBI Weirdacy I have bouncing around in my head.

Meet Allison Wonderland

Closeup:

She is:
Cat Person
Childlike
Daredevil
Supernatural Enthusiast
and, of course, Insane

She comes to Moonlight Falls with two cats:

Cheshire

and a little kitten Dinah

Based loosely on this picture from Disney’s Alice in Wonderland.

Creating a kitten for a starting household was a pain in the butt.

Allison is a reasonably-pretty-but-not-gorgeous face from the simbin. My thought was to start with as normal a sim as possible as a starting point, just as prettacies start with incredibly ugly sims and uglacies with beautiful ones.

I have even reserved a blog to log the adventures: We’re All Mad Here. It doesn’t have any POSTS on it. I haven’t decided what exactly what I want do with it. I would like to blog the legacy, but there’s no way I can manage something that is the effort of the Samples. The whole point of an ISBI is that it shouldn’t be that kind of work because I’m only trying to play one sim at a time.

I’m also planning on doing a cat legacy of sorts. Cheshire and Dinah are destined to be mates, and I’ll introduce future mates with interesting genetics to see what we get there :).

One thing that I found to be amusing is that I played through one day with Allison, and it was hard to relax and not be trying to pause the game and jump around. I clearly need the relaxation.

One complaint: Is Moonlight Falls ALWAYS this dark? That picture of Cheshire was taken at 9am.

Also, there appears to be no simple way to divide out my screenshots, which is annoying.

  1. Ooooh! Now I'm extra inspired to get my game fixed and start a new legacy! Not that I'm giving up the Hodgins, I love them, but I think I also need a little variety at this point. I've been playing them for over a year.

I can't wait to see how the ISBI works for you! I'm torn between doing one of those and doing an apocalyptic legacy.

  2. Oh wow, something new! πŸ™‚ The main point of an ISBI is only to control one sim at a time, right? I read about that before and thought it was a nice idea, but since I go crazy everytime one sim is in the yellow or even red, I'm not sure I would survive one.
Your founder is really pretty, but not TOO pretty. πŸ˜‰
Good luck with that, I will definitely check it out regularly!

  3. This will be a lot of fun! I can't wait to see how the ISBI goes. πŸ™‚ I've been thinking about maybe trying an ISBI, but I'm a little scared of it! Controlling only one sim at a time might make ME go mad. πŸ˜€

  4. Just remember, not every Sim story has to have a plot or a lot of detail even. Some of my favorite legacies to follow are mainly pictures with the occasional random comment thrown in because if I miss a post or several dozen, it doesn't take me weeks to catch back up (and when you miss several dozen of several I may never catch back up).

I think Alice looks really nice and it should be interesting to see what kind of kittens the two cats produce.

  5. You are so right Eppy. But I've played through two days with Allison, and I'm already having to back off and try to keep myself from planning every event as a post.

I also rather like what Sara did with her tertiary Mylipones legacy, where she just posts a pic, bio, and summary of the events in each heir and spare's life.

I would like to do SOME narrative, I think, with no attempt to build any story arcs. But I think I'm going to have to play ahead a bit so that I can see what to summarize. πŸ™‚ And you're right. If I can't think of any words, maybe I should just post the pictures and let them tell a story.

  6. What kind of apocalyptic legacies are you looking at? I know EPIC. Are there any others?

An apocalyptic legacy would certainly be fun to READ. I don't know how much work it would be to play :).

  7. For Amhranai and Isa: I'm a terrible control freak about my characters too. Part of the point to an ISBI is to see if I can break that. I'm getting better at not pausing the game ALL THE TIME, which certainly makes it play faster.

Another nice thing about an ISBI is that the ruleset I read included 5, 10, and maybe 15-generation legacies, so playing as few as 5 is no problem.

  8. Oooh!! This'll be fun! Can't wait for this one πŸ™‚ I'm waiting for the store to release Monte Vista for my new Ditft challenge.

Also, how did you manage to create a kitten for a starter family? Pray do tell!

  9. What I finally settled on is creating a Screenshots folder for each game I'm playing. Before I run the game, I rename one of the folders to just "Screenshots" so that all the pictures I take will go in there.

I guess that'll work well so long as I remember to do it. We'll see how that goes.

  10. Oh, hey, I forgot to answer your question about starter kittens, Jo. It was complicated and probably not worth it. I created the adult cat I wanted, then cloned it in the household. Then I used MasterController to make an instant kitten using the two identical cats. I was able to annihilate one of the adult cats, but not the other one. I think that's probably a Twallan bug. I had to add a random sim to the household, then move it and the other adult cat out to the clipboard. Then I saved the resulting household with kitten to the household library.

It was sort of a dumb amount of work, but for some reason I really wanted to start with a kitten.

  11. Wow, you must be crazy, Susan! I already don’t have enough time to blog about the lgacy challenge as it is and now I saw you have other two challenge blogs? How are you doing this? πŸ˜€ When I will get up to date with the Samples, I’m going to check out your other blogs as well πŸ˜‰

    • Haha. Well, I’ve been at this legacy for a long time, and I really wanted to try something new. The Nothing Is Free blog, Waypoint, has been on hiatus for almost two years now I think. I still have the saves and LOVE both the game and the story, but I couldn’t keep it going. Someday I’ll come back to it.

The ISBI is still going. I just had the Gen 3 heir poll. It’s pretty easy to play and blog, so it doesn’t detract from the Samples that much.
