Playing in the park was getting old. Same people most of the time. If she was going to build a broad fan base, she was going to have to check out a few new places. Why not the community pool?
Besides, it was a hot day, and she could use a dip.
As dusk arrived, Susie pulled herself out of the pool and serenaded the swimmers in the hot tup.
Then something unbelievable happened. A swimmer became exhausted and started going under! She scrambled for the edge of the pool, but failed to grab it in time. Before she even had time to react, Susie was staring at a drowned woman.
Beside her, the shadows began to coalesce into a a human shape….
The Grim Reaper called upon the soul of the drowned woman.
It listened to the spirit beg for… what? Its life back? A trip to Heaven instead of Hell?
With a slash if its scythe, the woman’s spirit disappeared. Susie and her fellow swimmers stood transfixed as the last wisp of the soul dissipated in the air.
After that, the Grim Reaper went swimming, dark cloak and all. Apparently, when you’re the Reaper, you don’t have to worry about getting your work clothes soaking wet.
Susie fled the pool and went home, troubled and frightened. The next day, she was drawn to the graveyard in the thought of seeing… well, she wasn’t sure what she expected to see. But nothing happened there. The morbid fascination stayed with her for days afterward. She secretly resolved that if someone close to her were to die, she would take their ashes to the science lab to see if she could learn the secrets of the afterlife. After all, Jared was a lot older than her or Connor, and why should she care what happened to him when he died?
Hmmm…. a drowning, huh? I don't recognise the drowner, but anyways. Very interesting….
Very intriguing … so Susie has a weird fascination with death all of a sudden?! Watch out Jared!
I loved the line where you describe Grimmy taking a swim … he really reminds me of the character from the Discworld books there 😉

Hee, thanks! This was the first time I'd ever seen someone die in Sims 3. And, as I think about it, I'm not sure I ever saw someone die in Sims2 either. I never played any of my families long enough. Heh.
He doesn't worry about getting his work clothes wet, ha!
tragic event for Susie; so having read the synopsis, I'm thinking this vow to take ashes to the science center was the foundation of her later taking CyclOn3's ashes there.
When I saw the title, I thought Susie was going to nearly die. Then when the other sim died, I still thought maybe she would be scared nearly to death.
Hahah! I thought it was a pretty good pun. He brushed right by here — get it??
I only recall seeing a Sim die of the old age in my games… I've never seen a Sim drown in front of my eyes (unless they were Sims controlled by me, hihi).
I don't think I ever saw a sim drown in Sims 3 in all the time I played it. Made for a good chapter at least.
A drowning Sim huh? And you did not influence this at all? Dont think I ever seen sims dying but actively played ones….
